They call Philadelphia “The City of Brotherly Love,” and indeed there is plenty to love in this sizable city. It is the largest city in Pennsylvania and the fifth-largest in the U.S. With good information to plan your visit, Philly is a prime place for lots of unforgettable experiences.

There you can sample the best of Philly's cuisine, whether you are craving an irresistible sandwich or a undeniably decadent dessert.

Hotels in Philadelphia

Philadelphia hotels take in a range of guests; some are ideal for solo business travelers while others cater to families. The city isn't exactly a resort destination so you won't find an overabundance of luxury hotels in the city, however there are still numerous options for high tastes, such as the Crowne Plaza property, or more affordable accommodations at Holiday Inn or the cozy Candlewood Suites.

Where to Stay

Old City is a top choice for vacationers in Philadelphia. This is where you'll find the city's top historic attractions as well as numerous shopping and dining options. Plus, the area is easy to walk so you won't have to worry about finding parking. Nearby Society Hill is another solid option; it is quieter than Old City but still close to the city’s core.

How to Get to Philadelphia

Philadelphia International Airport serves the city and the surrounding Pennsylvania area. If your hotel does not provide a shuttle service from the airport, it's easy to hop on public transportation and get into the main part of the city.

Good Hotel, could be better
By Pauld35
This is a nice hotel. It was my first time in a Crowne Plaza. I read a lot of reviews and wondered why Crowne Plaza didn't quite measure up to other upscale hotels. I know now. The hotel is nice but [More] there is a lot of room for improvement and although this could be considered an upscale hotel, it isn't upper upscale. The decor is tired and so is the furniture in the rooms. The rooms are small and the ceilings are like the old cheaper motels. The bedding was comfortable and the room served it's purpose. The breakfast is very good and I was pleased with the selection and quality. There are no smoking signs out front but this isn't enforced as many guests smoke right at the entrance. The staff was very nice and professional. There was a mistake when I checked in. I ordered a king bed with sofa but got a room with two double beds. The desk staff quickly and politely fixed this though. Housekeeping could do a better job of picking up the trash and used dishes outside guests rooms after room service. There was a lot of that. Al in all I did enjoy the hotel but there is a lot of room for improvement. [Less]

I like Candlewood Suites. We had a good experience. This was the second one we stayed in and thought that the first one had been made from an old apt. Complex, but it seems that they are all [More] apt.-esque. [Less]
