Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value, good-sized comfortable rooms, pleasant staff and stay This was a family trip for my son's WI State High School bowling tournament. We stayed in a double queen non-smoking room. The room was very good-sized, plenty of room to move around without tripping over luggage or feeling cramped. Nice kitchen area with a full-size (yes, like your house) refrigerator, a full-size (bigger than the one in my house) microwave, cupboards stocked with utensils, plates, and pots & pans - and yes, a dishwasher. HIgh-speed Internet worked flawlessly, A work/desk area with a couple of chairs allowed visitors a place to sit, as did the LaZBoy-like chair in front of the 37" HD flat screen TV. Plenty of outlets to plug in cell phones, PC, etc. The beds were very comfortable (not all beat down and worn out), the bathroom was very adequate, and the room was clean and felt upscale. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We printed a map in the business/computer area off from the lobby. There was an "on-your-honor" area called the "Candlewood Cupboard" that had some foods and travel sundries for sale at a pretty reasonable price. I wondered whether the hotel lost money on this as it was unattended - though I think most people are honest enough to complete the paper form indicating what they took from the room. The price was very reasonable relative to the value we received. I think the hotel achieves this lower rate by reducing staff - mostly cleaning staff - as the rooms are cleaned weekly unless otherwise requested. This is a good thing, as these savings are passed through to the customer. And who needs that daily cleaning anyway? Do you change your bedding at home every day? You can get clean towels daily at the front desk. There were plenty of good restaurants close to the hotel, and the hotel had easy access to the major highways. The only downside is that the hotel does not have a pool so if you have small children who want to swim, this is not your best choice. This may be another cost-cutting measure allowing the hotel to offer lower rates. Overall, this was an excellent experience - and I have traveled extensively on business so I have been there done that in hotels. I will definitely stay at Candlewood again. March 22, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Experience! Great beds! Comfortable space! VERY VERY Accommodating with check out options with Bowling Team not knowing if they would advance or not - so THANK YOU! Would've preferred a place with a pool, would've preferred a Continental Breakfast option, but nice place overall, and nice experience for the value/price! March 7, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice room, clean, good value Stayed here twice over the course of a couple weeks (outside the ski season, things were pretty quiet). This is a new property with nice rooms. Everything was very clean and well taken care of at this point. The outfitted kitchen was very handy. This room was well worth the price. Getting to the location is a bit of a maze. Be sure to check your map twice. Leaving the location requires similar attention or you will be making U turns. December 1, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing hotel Although we we only in this hotel for one night, we were so impressed by the enormous room, complete with full kitchen! A recliner and business desk also helped to make our stay comfortable. I can imagine that business people traveling and being away from home really would enjoy this home away from home! Excellent staff, extrememly clean. Be sure to check this hotel out!! November 1, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay in the Wausau area. Great value compared to other hotels of the same quality. Having a kitchen with refrigerator, cook top and microwave allows you to relax and eat in. A Super Market is only a few blocks away. October 21, 2012
