Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location for Family Holiday Very good functional hotel for family holiday with large family rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful with nice ideas for visits in the area. Only inconvience is that the sound proofing of the bedroom doors is not fantastic as in the corridor one can hear what is going on inside the rooms...possibly could be very noisy when hotel has full occupancy? Which was not our case as we stayed off season. Thank you for a very nice stay! January 18, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good location I stayed for 5 nights, and was on the 5th floor with good wifi, good size room and mini bar, no complaints, room was cleaned properly. The location is great and i have stayed here before, and would not consider any other place in Alicante. All the staff were friendly and i would recommend . To me it is a good 3 star property but i did not get any extra benefits as ambassador, but i think i did get a good room upgrade so happy with that. The pool is nice and the food is good , not overly priced. Ask for a 5th floor room. January 8, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic staff - let down by tired rooms Booked a free night with Priority club points – on arrival told that our booking had been cancelled – unknown to us and no knowledge from them who cancelled it. However Noelina quickly connected us to the priority points hotline and they sorted it out swiftly without fuss. The room was spacious for the 3 of us but like others have reported it is very much in need of an upgrade and lets the Holiday Inn brand down. The decor is dull, curtains faded and would not shut and bathroom grout dirty and mouldy in places – due to age. I would think that his hotel has not had any major works for years and is badly in need of it. There was a problem with the hot water system which left us with brown/yellow water that did not clear, again the member of staff Alba sorted this very quickly and moved us to a Junior Suite. We had breakfast here and it was adequate. The rooms have a fridge but no coffee making facilities (unless you have a suite!) The staff here are fantastic, friendly and approachable; it’s a shame that the hotel itself is not true reflection of the Holiday Inn brand. There are 3 supermarkets that are local and a 10-15 minute walk away. The beach is also a 10 minute walk. The bus from Alicante No 21 stops right outside and connects with the C6 from Alicante airport – easy to use – no need for taxis. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here – especially sitting out by the pool in 18 degree heat at the beginning of December!!And for the price we paid would happily return again. December 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by October Sun Enjoyed my stay in a Junior suite..Plenty of room for 2 children and one adult.As a smoker i liked the balcony as i did not smoke in the room. Had room service one night , burger was very rare in the middle but the rest of the food was fine. Had a meal by the pool and that was fine, prices ok not over the top. Service first rate, always smiling and helpful at reception. Pool area was nice, and room rate was good. No major complaints , and would stay again. It is a three star hotel, in my eyes, but i am happy with that level, as the surrounding area is great, and makes it the only place i will stay in Alicante.. Beds were good,mini bar not too over priced, but only two news channels in English on the tv. Staff are happy to help in any request, and it is a very relaxing place to be for a few days. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good value, but average hotel Staff very good, approachable and nice. English not really spoken, outside of Reception. Fairly close to excellent beach. Pleasant swimming pool. Seemed to be very good value, looking at rates available outside main holiday periods. Food tasty, with good portion sizes. Spacious rooms. V good air conditioning. Wifi had very good connectivity and was free. Hotel needs refurbishment on ground floor of carpet in corridor as it's very worn. Sunloungers frequently collapsed on lots of guests! Bar closed very early (before 11pm), plus no food available at all between 3pm - 8pm!! - so ok for Spanish market perhaps, but not international guests. Beds very uncomfortable (hard mattress, beds rolled around on floor), hotel very noisy (thin walls, loud guests banging doors etc). Hotel quite difficult to find if not familiar with Alicante and the area. October 25, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by My most negative IHG experience In all IHG hotels I have stayed the people checking me in has recognized my loyalty as platinum member and arranged the best possible room. Here they did not see that I am platinum member (!?). They did not offer the voucher for the refreshments or extra points as defined by the new IHG club regulations nor the old standard of arranging some refreshments as a special welcome to the room. This was a surprise as the staff at the IHG hotels where we stayed the days before in Barcelona and Valencia were perfectly aware of this regulation and happily provided the vouchers pro-actively. I asked the staff about it and they said they never heard about it but promised to check it. They did not, and I asked again before departing. They once again promised to come back with an e-mail to me but did not bother to do that. Another odd thing was that when checking in I asked for the nearest way to the beach and the person informed me that it is through the lower gate on the back of the hotel. We started to use that gate several days and on the fourth day when returning we were refused entry through this gate. Unbelievable! The rooms were the worst Holiday Inn rooms I have seen after using IHG in many countries around the world during the last ten years. It was not even possible to make tea and coffee in the room and every detail of the property is outdated. Floor cleaning was terrible. I asked several times if they could upgrade me as platinum member to a better room but the staff was not interested to do anything about it. It is clear that San Juan area is built for only Spanish tourists and that the service people are not interested in servicing foreign people (especially if you do not speak Spanish) so in general this IHG hotel is completely misplaced. I wish that IHG would remove this hotel from the IHG chain! October 23, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good Price-Value I stayed in the hotel several times. Of course it seemed this Hotel needs partly to be renewed (pool, bath tub) In general a good price-value. Good public connection. But please make sure that Hotel WIFI works everywhere not only in selective rooms (Last Stay Room No. 119 - no signal) Hotel is fine for 1-2 night stay, but for longer stay I personally would recommend to spend more for real 4-Star Hotel.
