We stayed there for two nights on 2/10 and 2/11/2014. It was cold, and the heater unit was our nightmare. It had VERY LOUD noise when it was on, like metal grinding noise. To make the matter worse, on/off was much more frequent than normal. It was turned on again only a few minutes after it was off. Needless to say that we did not get good sleep at all. We understand it's an older hotel, but it should definitely be better maintained.

En general el hotel tiene una buena ubicadión, las instalaciones son promedio, pero en la tina de baño, el agua se acumula y y tarda mucho en vaciarse, el mecanismo no funciona bien, ya que si no se percibe, el aguja se quedará acumulada por muchas horas.

All of the cups on my table were dirty. They had been washed but still had coffee stains. I asked for a clean cup and while waiting for it, noticed the water glasses were similar. I left my free breakfast (I am platinum with Priority Club) and went somewhere clean to eat.
The room was worn looking but nothing specificly wrong.
I asked if theere was an ice machine on my floor and was told there was one. After trapesing around to find it, i found it did not work. The desk clerk got me ice but should have saved me the time to find the busted machine.
This would be a nice hotel if it was properly maintained.

This trip was supposed to be a 5 night stay which I cut short to only 1 night after having been in the hotel only about 3.5 hours. The rooms were very worn and not kept up to date, the entire hall smelled horrible, and furniture badly needed to be replaced or repaired. We waited for over 2 hours for a roll away and never got it, which resulted in me having to sleep on the chair all night since my son and wife were on the bed. The swimming pool was very dirty. When we arrived, I was told there was nobody to help us with all our luggage. In the morning the restaurant did not offer a breakfast buffet, and when i took an order to go, i realized my order was was missing its bacon when i got to the room. In 2013, I stayed over 150 nights in hotels in 15 different states but this took the cake for being the worse one i've seen.

Work was having me stay here every five weeks about two years ago and I remember it being much cleaner and taking care of. Also the staff seemed better organized.
My latest stay on December 18th was again for work and the place seemed very run down. The guy at the front desk was not very friendly. Ignored the fact I had a IHG gold card (not even a thanks for being a member). The cashier/waitress was friendly and did a good job but the food was horrible (had the chicken tortilla soup and chicken enchiladas). The food was much better a few years ago.
There is a nice mall and alot of places to eat just across the freeway.
Glad it was work paying for this, if it was my own money I would be very angry.

Check in was quick, there is no elevator to the second floor so if you don't want to climb stairs with luggage in tow, request first floor. Upon entering our room it smelled of mildew. Wallpaper was peeling on the walls. The bathroom had not been cleaned well at all. There was standing urine at the bottom around the outside of the toilet. Hairs were visible in the corner on the bathroom tile floor. Tub didn't drain & after staff was called to fix the clog it still didn't drain good. The price was cheap & included free hot breakfast buffet which was the only thing good about this hotel. Very disappointed in this Holiday Inn & will not stay here while in Brownsville again.
