The male receptionist we encountered was very friendly. We didnt pre-book to stay here and so had to wait for housekeeping to ready our room. There was a mix up with this but we were giving a complimentary drink from the bar and on returning to our room we found the housekeeper had laid my daughters teddy on her bed. Great service and language was not a barrier. On this occasion we didnt use the pool.Breakfast was outside on the terrace. On saying we were touring, the same receptionist suggested a great place to stay for our next night and booked it for us. I have to say, this man is a great asset to Holiday Inn and I wish I had seen him on checkout to thank him for making our stay one of the best.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by redkentwo Pleasant, relaxing hotel. Very good staff
Our first visit. The member of staff on reception was welcoming and very helpful. The hotel is situated in a commercial area and a convenient local bus made access to Nimes quite easy.
Our room on the 3rd floor was comfortable and well maintained.
Dining (evening) was good but perhaps would have been better if the restaurant/bar had been fully open on a Sunday, even for bar meals. (There is a restaurant about 10mins walk from the hotel, but not much else is open on Sundays.).
We would certainly stay again as it is well located for sightseeing around Provence, Cevennes and indeed the coast.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Traveller27 Good break
Stayed here for 4 nights on a short Holiday to the South of France with my wife.
The staff were all welcoming and friendly, we were recognised as priority club members with a room upgrade. Wi-Fi worked fine except that only 1 device at a time could be accessed - we both have tablets.
Public transport to the centre of Nimes is easy - bus stop opposite hotel and fares are cheap.
The room facilities were good - king bed, excellent walk in shower and separate toilet. The room and the hotel despite its age were very clean.
The main fault was with the breakfast which was very poor value and the 2 'hot' items were not even warm and in the case of the scrambled egg almost unrecognisable. I had read on other sites that breakfast was good and a couple I spoke to at breakfast said breakfast had been good last time they stayed.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Sunday Guests Not Welcome!
Avoid this hotel on a Sunday at all cost! This is a paraphrasing of the text of my formal complaint against this hotel:
I have stayed in many IHG hotels over the last 15 years but this is the worst.
When we arrived at about 20:00 on Sunday, 5th May the place was deserted. There was one member of staff on duty, who did her best to be pleasant. But there was no food available and the hotel is located in a commercial area that is also shut on a Sunday evening. Being on the outskirts of the town this is a disaster for a tired guest after a long day's travel.
We did eventually get a very good meal at the neighbouring hotel after wasting three quarters of an hour wandering around the closed retail area. But the staff member 'forgot' to mention that its restaurant was open!
On our return the bar was dark but the staff member did say she could serve us, however she did not have a key to the locked displays so the choice of drinks was severely limited.
We retired to our room only to find that the bedding when we turned the duvet back was very creased and DAMP! The air conditioning/climate control had been turned off centrally so it was not possible to warm the room to speed the drying time. We had to delay retiring to air the bed but the creases made it uncomfortable to say the least. It felt and looked like we were sleeping in the previous occupant's unchanged bed linen!
The solitary staff member explained that the hotel catered for business men Monday to Friday. In which case the hotel should be closed on the weekend.
As noted already the air conditioning was switched off centrally so we could not make the room comfortable.
In the morning the hot water was so poor it was impossible to shower and a small bath took 30 minutes to run. The HI toiletries were missing as was the "forgotten something" notice. The toilet smelled of urine!
Lastly the W-Fi was not fit for purpose."

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DuckyDaBest Just a pearl - an old pearl, but still a pearl
I can only recommend the hotel. Don't be shocked by the outward appearance - we all know this hotel is quite old and built in a style which is, nowadays, more than out-of-date. Never mind - what they miss on the outside they try to reach on the inside... rooms are equipped with flatscreen and IPod Docking Stations... and a rather modern (post-modern?) design.
Now, the best in this hotel is the friendliness of the staff. You FEEL WELCOME, which is rare at IHG hotels in France. Again, the rooms are ok... wait! Due to the old ventilation system, you are able to hear people in the room above you quite clearly... and I unfortunately had to experience a couple in the room above me which had a rather "intensive bodily contact" at 2 o clock in the night (ok, that's what hotels are there for, but still - if you are forced to be a witness, it IS annoying! Luckily, it only lasted around 2 minutes... he must have been Italian :D) Yet, the next day I changed my room the the 7th floor, and that was much, much better...
Just the main thing: this hotel IS really recommendable because of the friendliness; it is also very clean; bus stop to city center directly in front of the hotel (1€ per leg); extensive newspaper shop inside the hotel. Restaurant with good lunch prices in the hotel. Shopping center (Carrefour) just across the road. Internet works perfectly (fast).

I spent 5 nights in the hotel in the middle of October 2012 and had a very pleasant stay.
The hotel is comfortable and all the staff were very pleasant and helpful. It is very conveniently situated in the Nimes 'Ville Active'
area which has easy access from the Autoroute
There is a very good public bus service from just outside the hotel to the centre of Nimes which is very convenient for visiting the Roman sites in the city centre
I visited the Camargue, the coastal ports of Sete and Agde
to the west, the Pont du Gard and ancient town of Uzes, all of which are within easy driving distance from the hotel
An excellent base for visiting this interesting region
