Stayed here during opening. There were only 7 rooms occupied on that time and I was told that they don't have policy to upgrade IHG Platinum member eventhough the Suite room was empty. However, they are still selling it to people who booked it. Therefore, there is no difference either you are Platinum or not.
On the positive side, the room is nice, the pool is quite big for HIX brand, and the breakfast quality was good considering only 7 rooms were booked. I also met the GM during the breakfast and he was friendly.
I was quite rush when going to airport and I didn't notice if I left my hard-drive but the attentiveness of the housekeeping called me and told me that they found my hard-drive left. Too bad that I have to depart soon, so I asked them to send me by mail. I really appreciate to the high level service of the housekeeping.
I booked under IHG Opening special which entitled me 2,000 bonus points. However, the points posted are only the ordinary points and 2,000 pts were not posted. After submitting claim to IHG, finally I got the 2,000 pts but it was posted as non-elite points. Therefore, I shouldn't recommend you book bonus package points rate.
All in all, it is new property so the rooms are still in good conditions, tasty breakfast, and inviting swimming pool which are on the plus side. However, since there is no recognition for IHG Platinum members at all so probably there are no difference staying in this hotel and in other non-chain hotels.

This HI Express features a swimming pool and hot daily breakfast unlike many US, UK or Canadian HI Express locations. The architecture of the property used local materials in the restaurant and lobby area. The breezeway going through the restaurant area was well thought out. The use of energy efficient lighting in the hallways demonstrated their concern for the environment. The rooms have functional balconies and the AC worked perfect. The TV package was international in scope. The breakfast was served buffet style on hot electric warmer plates with a different choice daily. The breakfast is mostly Asian in style but yoghurts, cereal, fresh fruit and breads were also offered. No complaints at all.
The staff are trained in multiple jobs. The lady cleaning up the tables is also trained as a front desk clerk. All staff were friendly and appeared to really want to please the guests.
A fantastic hotel run by professional managers who care about the staff and guests.

Rooms are great, breakfast needs more upgrading, Internet connection fair, and finally I didnt get my any membership(IHG reward points) points on this stay...
