Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Not your usual Holiday Inn Express I've stayed at this hotel twice now and absolutely love it! It has quickly become one of my favorites because of the ambiance of the rooms. It is an older hotel and when IHG took it over, someone got smart and kept all the 'old world' charm of the original property to make this a 'one of a kind' place. It offers 'exercise' suites complete with stationary bikes & treadmills or elliptical machines with a two person Jacuzzi in the bath room. Many suites also have fireplaces in them, as well!! Talk about cozy!! Twice now I have had suites with the Jacuzzi and fireplace and have enjoyed them both times. Don't let the location fool you! There are plenty of places to eat across the street in a shopping area and you are not far from the airport if needing to fly out early. Staff is awesome as well!! I will definitely stay there again when in the Detroit area! Only recommendation I would offer is to request a room to the rear of the hotel as it faces on I-95 and traffic can get noisy pretty early in the morning. December 16, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NIGHTMARE!!! Where do I begin. First and formost even though I'm an IHG member, no guest should be treated the way I was treated. I felt humiliated and 2nd class. Upon arrival (12-13-14), I arrived at 10:30am. I requested early checkin and was immediately shot down and told checkin is 3:00pm. I asked the young lady if any clean rooms are available, she stated yes but not able to check me in until 30 to an hr later because it was too early, which made no sence at all. The rudest front desk clerk. After my family and I checked in, we decided to take a swim. Upon arriving in the pool area, the pool was dirty, beer cans all over the place, towels laying on the floor. We reversed course and went back to the room. We we in the process of ordering pizza, but neither of the phones were working. My wife went to the front desk to report issue and had to wait 10 min until the clerk returned. The clerk was short and never appologized for the wait. She informed my wife that a maintenance man will check the issue. Maintenance arrived but unannounced, walked in my room without knocking. I was angry and yelled at him to knock next time. The front desk came to my room to inform me that all phones were out and was unable to move me. The last straw was the broken handle on the toilete. I was not going to call but rather make another resv at another hotel. Upon checkout, the only bright spot was the afternoon clerk. She was nice and apoligized for my horrid stay. December 15, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Jacuzzi Suite Check in was rough , due to only one person there, which happen to have trouble speaking English clearly & explaining policy. We had a late check in , so we weren't able to use the pool , which I suggest should be open for late check ins with key entry. The towels were dirty in the bathroom and I didn't like the idea of the tissue roll being downs to the last couple sheets but they still folded it neatly. Just made me remember that I wasn't at home. But I think they could at least give a new roll in a case like that. I loved the fact that we were able to get a late check out because of the late check in , and they didn't Rush us by continuosly calling the phone or sending housekeepers to speed us up. The location was perfect . It made me feel like I wasn't near home even though I live a few miles away. Lastly, they told me a deposit will be held on my card for 1-2 business days , however it took for me to call in and dispute it for me to receive my deposit back , which was about 4 days after. My bank explained that this specific place holds the deposit until someone calls in to dispute it and then they release the money back to your card. Make sure you call in about the deposit. Overall, I had a nice time, and I will return December 12, 2014

First off upon check in I was given no welcome points for Platinum Status although the person checking in at the same time as me was given 500 welcome points as well as a room upgrade. The room I was given smelled very badly like body odor. The window in the room was also in poor condition I could hear the busy express way outside as if the window was open all night. The hotel is outdated and dirty, it's like a dustier version of Dracula's castle. The TV in the room had a poor signal every channel was "fuzzy." December 11, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Marginally better than a crack den The room was spacious but that was it. Fireplace didn't work, Jacuzzi constantly drained, shower drained slowly, bathroom didn't have a ventilation fan. The room didn't have it's own climate control so we had to run the AC in November to maintain a remotely comfortable temperature and conveniently enough the House phone's weren't working making it difficult to contact hotel staff by phone. Won't be staying here again. December 6, 2014
