Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great location My wife and I came to see the Texas Rangers and Yankees play baseball. It was easy to get a subway to Yankee stadium . And while we were in New York we wanted to see Times Square and Broadway shows and Rckefeller Center and The Empire State building and the Statue of Liberty. We rode the subway to battery park to get the Statue cruise . All the other things were in easy walking distance from the hotel.The housekeeping and the front desk and the breakfast crew were all great, friendly and helpful. We were not planning another trip to New York, but this was such a great experience we will probably be back and stay at the Holiday Inn Express 5th Avenue. May 25, 2015

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable, Clean but Mess Up with Airport Pick Up The hotel location was fine, close enough to Times Square and Broadway. The room was clean. Breakfast was okay if you are familiar with Holiday Inn Express Breakfast - that is what you get. Better than a continental breakfast for sure. Everything was in working order. The day before we left, the hotel Desk Clerk suggested and arranged an airport pick up for us by private car. The morning of the pick up, not that much before he was arriving to pick us up, the Desk Clerk told us the pick up would not be coming. They gave us back our deposit and we were left with no way to get to JFK. We were unaware there was an All Borough Marathon occurring that Sunday. Roads were at a stand still. They should have told us this in advance and prepared us. We had no idea of the marathon. That's just not good service to your guest. We immediately took our bags and literally ran to 5th avenue to catch a cab. Some of them did not want to go to JFK. It was a very unpleasant experience for us and all of this could have been avoided. Had we known of the marathon from our hotel (as a courtesy they should have told us ahead of time) we would have left at some ungodly hour of the morning just to avoid the mess. We finally did catch a cab and made the flight. But this certainly reflects on the Holiday Inn Express and going the extra mile for their guests. It's not a cheap hotel. They charge enough. They threw a real spoiler into the end of our New York holiday. May 25, 2015

It's conveniently located, clean, and the staff are very friendly. If you book far enough in advance you can usually get decent rates. I definitely recommend this hotel. May 18, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst ever experienc I have been staying at the Holiday Inn Express 5th Avenue NYC for the last few nights arriving from the Intercontinental Times Square. I moved to the HIE as it was more convenient to my place of business on Park Avenue. As I am on business and only finish at 14h00, I approached the front desk for a later checkout at 14h30. I was told to speak to the front desk on the day and did so that morning for the worst experience I have had at ANY hotel globally. I was told by the attendant, ELIECIR, that the hotel was too full and that I would be charged if I stayed beyond the checkout time. When I referred to my Gold Ambassador status, I was told that it means nothing at Holiday Inn. I then reserved an additional night online and asked Eliecir to extend the same room as the hotel was obviously not full. It was at this stage that he commented "you people always want freebies". I am not sure what he meant by this prejudicial remark but it was certainly not expected after more than a decade of Priority Club IHG membership, most of those at Gold Platinum and Ambassador level. As I am in the process of planning a major family vacation and had been set on using IHG properties across the US, this is certainly not the expected treatment that I have become accustomed to. I will look to convert my remaining points to airline miles and "we people" will not afford IHG or Holiday Inn our patronage henceforth for my extensive travel for business or personal. I will also highlight the treatment given to me on travel forums and to my friends and colleagues to ensure that people are not subject to this type of discrimination or treatment ever. May 15, 2015
