While the property is located a short distance from Sandpoint we were quite pleased with service and the rooms.

This was our second time staying at this location of the Holiday Inn Express. We weren't able to get a room located at the back of the building even though I asked for one when making the reservation. The road traffic noise, however is minimized with the window closed. The rooms, TV channels and beds are very nice and the breakfast is excellent. I found this place by searching hotels in Sandpoint, although this place is north of Sandpoint in Poneray. After staying here we have decided the we prefer this location over Sandpoint anyway.

I've stayed here before when it's not tourist season, and prices are much more in line with what this place should cost.
On the up side - breakfast is the typical IHG breakfast with a variety of foods.
My room was REALLY quiet. There is a train line running north/south along the mountain on the other side of Sand Creek, and I didn't hear trains at all during the night or early morning.
Parking is easy and there are lots of places within easy reach to eat and shop for necessities, including a new drive-through Starbucks (ah, progress).
Down side - the mattress. Apparently everyone sleeps in the same spot, so there was a "hole." I filled it with the extra pillows on the bed and kept myself from rolling into it, because I like to sleep in the middle of the bed.
Wifi - I don't know if it's the million tourists and their mobile devices who invade N. Idaho every summer, but this trip I was lucky to get on the wifi and I got booted off several times and was unable to connect several times. On previous visits, the wifi has at least been adequate to check work emails, etc. You're never going to be able to play online games like WoW, but I would hope to at least get email.
