Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Cold Room Dear HIE Thank you for the opportunity to Express my review. The Check Inn was good, nothing special but very adequate. The staff was friendly and courteous. As we entered our room we noticed that the door was left ajar and it made my sister and I a bit nervous. As I open the door we noticed immediately that the room was freezing cold, I looked at the thermostat and it was at 61 degrees. I tried setting the temperature for my liking but nothing seemed to happen. I called the front desk and no one answered the phone. We thought at first it was an adjustment to the thermostat that we were not familiar with so we began to unpack and get comfortable. Noticing that the room was starting to get unbearable I called the front desk again....again no one answered. We finished unpacking and I called again and finally someone answered the phone. The young woman was nice and courteous and promised to get someone up to the room right away. We waited approx. 10 minutes but had to leave because it was freezing, we assumed whoever was going to fix it would let themselves in and take care of it. We met the rest of the family that was staying in the hotel and decided to get dinner and drinks downtown at Creaky Tiki's...which we walked to. After a long walk home we entered our room and I didn't think it was possible but it was even colder. I checked the thermostat, it was 59. I immediately called downstairs and a gentlemen answered the phone and promised to be right up, which he was. He quickly noticed the room was freezing and tried his best to get it turned down but to No avail. The gentlemen seemed very competent in a mechanical sense but did not seem to understand the customer service side of the coin. I don't remember him trying to solve the problem of our stay in this freezing cold room...he was pretty matter of fact and I don't remember a sorry or any compassion. He was able to finally get the system turned of completely and of course we were happy about that. As we tried to get warm and settle in for the night me and my sister rehashed the incident and were both unhappy with your clerks disinterest in customer service. We decided at that time to go downstairs and complain and realized we were complaining to the same person. The gentlemen offered to comp the room for the night which was wonderful and the right thing to do but even with all that he never said sorry. The next morning after a good night of sleep, a little cold but it warmed up after a while, I decided to just touch base with the morning staff just to make sure they knew the issue from the night before. The woman at the front desk greeted me with a great big smile and a hello. As I started to tell her my room # 204 and the problem.....she interrupted me and put her hand up as if she was directing traffic to stop and said, " we already know the problem, there is no reason to rehash it" . I was a little surprised by that and thought it was a little rude. She offered her apologies and said that our room was comped for the night and that we would be getting a suite. I thought at this point you made things right and even better than I wanted or expected. I wondered why the gentlemen from the night before wasn't able to come up with the same fix. I thanked the young lady and was very happy. At about 2pm we were finally able to check in to our new room which cut it close to get ready for our 4 pm wedding. The room was awesome, clean and more than adequate for our stay. Several times through out stay the same young woman asked us if we liked the room which we did. We enjoyed the rest of our stay without an incident. Thank You, July 17, 2014
