This hotel lists a shuttle from the airport for 150 Thai Baht on their website, however, what they don't tell you is that this is not for the Holiday Inn shuttle van (which costs over 1,000 Baht), but for what amounts to a public bus at the airport. Not something to find out after traveling 20 hours to get there.
The 150 Baht shuttle is a bus that follows a schedule from the airport around Ao-Nang. I even called the hotel ahead and confirmed the hotel shuttle was 150 Baht. When we arrived and were standing in the airport I called for the hotel shuttle to find that it was over 1,000 Baht so we ended up having to hire a private taxi to get there. (Beating off they gypsy taxi drivers there) That took an hour to clear up.
I brought this up with the Room Division Manager when I arrived at check-in, but he did not speak with me and a woman there did all the talking instead even though he was sitting across the desk from me the entire time. It was awkward.
So we were assigned our room and later discovered the bathroom in the room had a terrible sewage odor coming from the drain vents. I don't know if this room assignment was done intentionally or not, but we notified the cleaning staff and all they did was give us a can of air freshener. The smell was overbearing. We had to deal with this smell every night by opening the windows in the bathroom and closing the bathroom door with the ac on.
I have stayed at many Holiday Inns and this stay was for 9 nights on reward points that I feel were a waste. I have spent a lot of money with the IHG brand to get those points, and I do believe that because I am using points the service provided should not be sub-standard.
In Thai culture much emphasis is placed on saving face, however, this is still business and problems customers experience should be addressed, you cannot simply force a smile and expect the problem to go away.
My advice for people staying at this resort is to check the bathroom of your room before you accept it.
I will say that the room manager did provide us a free hotel shuttle ride to the airport at our checkout, and most of the staff were excellent and helpful.

My family of 4 really loved our stay at the Holiday Inn Krabi. The room was wonderful (we had the Kid's Suite)! It was clean, spacious and very well appointed. The beds were very comfortable, and my children loved their bunk beds. The swimming pool was also a firm favorite, especially the slides in the children's pool. The grounds of the resort were immaculate and the service was warm and friendly all round. The Kid's Club deserves special mention with their wonderful staff who took great care of our children during our stay. They had a lot of fun, and us adults were able to spend some quality time alone knowing they were in safe hands. The location of the hotel was perfect. Away from the bustle of Ao nang, but still within easy reach via walking or a short taxi ride. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Krabi!

We have enjoyed (especially the kids) our stay tremendously at the Holiday Inn Krabi Resort. The ambience was nice and relax, staff were friendly and always wearing a smile on their faces, swiming pools are great, kids club was amazing and the breakfast spread good enough to satisfied all.
The only shortcoming was that the hotel was not able to give us 4 connecting rooms for the party of 10 (despite my request while booking online). The rooms given were shattered around the few blocks so a bit of walking from one to another.
