Things to See

While you may want to join the 40 million people that visit Minnesota’s famous Mall of America per year, you’ll have to step out of the box to get a true taste of Minneapolis. For those interested in contemporary art, the Walker Art Center (the upper Midwest’s first public art gallery) and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden offer a feast for the eyes. Looking for an actual feast? Dig into a Korean BBQ pizza at Pizzeria Lola, or indulge in all the meat dishes your heart desires at Butcher & The Boar. Once you’re all fueled up, visit some of Minneapolis’ most notable attractions, including plays at the Fitzgerald Theater or Guthrie Theatre on the banks of the Mississippi River, and concerts, walks, and bike rides at Minnehaha Falls Park. Spend an afternoon on Grand Avenue in Saint Paul to bask in culture by taking in local restaurants and shops or transport yourself to the tropics at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory.

Hotels in Minneapolis

From areas in downtown or close to the mall, to surrounding cities like Roseville, Shakopee, Rogers, and St. Paul, IHG hotels span widely around the Minneapolis area, offering travelling a wide range to choose from for maximum comfort and convenience. With this type of variety, you can choose a hotel closest to the priority spots on your list that you wish to visit.

Where to Stay

If you’re travelling for work, downtown Minneapolis is likely the most convenient place to stay to get to meetings while staying close to museums, restaurants, and sports or concert venues. If you’re interested in nightlife, downtown and uptown both offer active bars and clubs. Staying in Bloomington (south of downtown Minneapolis) or Eagan (southwest of Bloomington) offers close proximity to the Mall of America. Checking out the University of Minnesota? Roseville is your best bet to get close to the college and visit student hot spots.

How to Get to Minneapolis

Fly in at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP), made up of two terminals. Trains from the airport to go downtown, providing easy access to your destination. You can also choose Amtrak or Northstar Line trains to get around the city and neighboring suburbs, or hail a cab. Minneapolis’ four designated quadrants, grid system, and multi-colored street signs make getting around town quite easy. Since Minneapolis gets quite cold in the winter and like any city, rains from time to time, the city’s enclosed walkways downtown and widespread bus and light-rail networks are appreciated and commonly used.

Great Hotel!
By i'dstayhereagain
We were staying at this hotel as a part of a personal trip. We booked this particular hotel due to very reasonable rates found online, which we later came to find out were lowered due to the fact [More] that the pool area was shut down due to maintenance. I didn't see any notification about the pool shutdown when we booked (maybe I missed it?), but I did receive a call from the hotel a few days later informing me of the shutdown. For us, it wasn't a big deal as we weren't planning on using the pool area anyways, but the proactive step to let us know was very welcome. As for the stay itself, it was pretty much as expected. The check-in process was quick and painless, the room was updated, clean, and comfortable. The room was quiet, with the one exception of someone on their phone in the hallway, we could hear them very clearly. Breakfast the next morning was your standard HIE fare...nothing fantastic, but perfectly adequate. The only "issue" we ran into during our stay was with the heater in the room, we had a heck of a time regulating the temperature. We would adjust the temperature on the thermostat just a few degrees, and the room seemed to go from cold to rather warm, and then vice-versa. We couldn't seem to get it dialed in to a comfortable temperature. Outside of this, our stay was very pleasant. [Less]
Holiday Inn Chanhassen
By Fencing Dad
Nice room, good price and excellent breakfast. Staff friendly. Heat control in the room a bit difficult to regulate as it is not thermostat based. Avoid rooms overlooking the pool area as these [More] are very noisy from kids playing until pool closes...other rooms seem to have no problem with noise. [Less]

Love the Holiday Inn Express Brand
By AquaDave
With over 30 years of traveling 90% of the time for business, it qualifies me as a true "road warrior". As a warrior, I have been greatly disappointed, moved rooms, and even checked out immediately [More] upon entering the hotel or room, only because the one single biggest requirement I have for hotels is cleanliness. The Holiday Inn Express does it better than anyone else in the industry. With over 3,000,000 air miles and over 5,000 room nights, I have learned what I like and, what I need. I belonged to all of the various award programs to all the major hotels. I've stayed at hotels that cost over 3-10 times what the Holiday Inn Express did and yet, The Holiday Inn Express in Woodbury (and everywhere else) is the very best value for your money. What the Holiday Inn Express does better than all of them. ALL the employees are very personable, the hotels are spotless, the rooms are perfect, the bed is VERY comfortable, and the breakfast is great. I will be getting to the Woodbury area on a regular basis over the next couple of years and will always stay at the Woodbury Holiday Inn Express! [Less]
