I rate staff and service among the best I experienced in IC hotels including the General Manager himself who is always around.
However my stay was physically uncomfortable: to start, guaranteed suite upgrade or club room was NOT honoured (just lounge access). Air conditioning is defective as room temperature never drops below 24c so as in all hotel outlets forcing windows to be open in lounge and bar.
Ordinary paying guest like me are not accounted for if VIPs are in the hotel including closing their only outdoor outlet from 2pm till following day, forcing guests to enter hotel from different doors (and paths!) at different times; dishonoring Royal Ambassador privileges ; confining smokers (in entire premises) to a table on the street pavement by the hotel entrance having to cope with car headlights.
Really the Air conditioning failure made my stay most uncomfortable coupled by the possibility/fact of being harassed anytime by having to give way for VIPs or face closed outlets or even downgraded accommodations..

What a wonderful experience at the Intercontinental Nairobi. My guests were treated like royalty from the minute the driver picked them up at the airport, to EVERY staff encounter at the hotel to the wonderful rooms! Thank you so much to the extremely professional Front Office Manager Andrew for making all this happen.
