Chicago is a land of rich culture, unique architecture, delicious food, famous winds and more. The city—America’s third largest—is home to more than 2.7 million people, which rises to 10 million when you include residents of the greater Chicago area. It is a great sports town, where the Bears shuffled up a Super Bowl victory, Michael Jordan once ruled the NBA, and the Cubs and White Sox still swing for the fences. With dozens of Chicago hotels to choose from, IHG has the perfect room for your visit to this major Midwestern city. Essential Travel Guide to Chicago.
One of Chicago’s foremost attractions is 360 Chicago (formerly John Hancock Observatory). Located on the 94th floor of John Hancock Center, it offers 360-degree views from a 17,000-square-foot observation deck, and visibility of up to 50 miles—a range that includes Chicago’s skyline, four nearby states and Lake Michigan. You can also dine and shop, or test your mettle at Tilt, a glass-enclosed platform that extends outward from the building at a 30-degree angle as you lean against it. Lincoln Zoo, which offers all guests free admission year-round, has hundreds of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians for your family to meet. You can explore the city’s rich and fascinating past at Chicago History Museum, admire the abstract at Museum of Contemporary Art, and take a boating tour of waterside wonders at Navy Pier, which also features mini-golf and a 150-foot Ferris wheel. You’ll find great live music at Green Mill, amazing urban architecture at Millennium Park, and a whole universe to discover at Adler Planetarium.
