Essential Travel Guide to Chicago
Things to See
One of Chicago’s foremost attractions is 360 Chicago (formerly John Hancock Observatory). Located on the 94th floor of John Hancock Center, it offers 360-degree views from a 17,000-square-foot observation deck, and visibility of up to 50 miles—a range that includes Chicago’s skyline, four nearby states and Lake Michigan. You can also dine and shop, or test your mettle at Tilt, a glass-enclosed platform that extends outward from the building at a 30-degree angle as you lean against it.
Lincoln Zoo, which offers all guests free admission year-round, has hundreds of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians for your family to meet. You can explore the city’s rich and fascinating past at Chicago History Museum, admire the abstract at Museum of Contemporary Art, and take a boating tour of waterside wonders at Navy Pier, which also
features mini-golf and a 150-foot Ferris wheel. You’ll find great live music at Green Mill, amazing urban architecture at Millennium Park, and a whole universe to discover at Adler Planetarium.
Hotels in Chicago
Chicago hotels offer a variety of ways to make your visit as comfortable and convenient to your needs as possible, whether you’re traveling solo for business or seeking a relaxing vacation with loved ones.
Where to Stay
Book a room on Magnificent Mile, a bustling section of Michigan Avenue with upscale shopping and entertainment, if you want to be in the heart of Chicago's action. The scenic and walkable area that includes Gold Coast and Old Town has a thriving nightlife, while Lincoln Park and Wrigleyville have fantastic nearby attractions for fun-seeking families.
How to Get to Chicago
O'Hare International Airport is one of the world’s busiest airports and has a variety of ground transportation options. Midway International Airport handles mostly domestic flights and is unlikely to be as crowded as O'Hare, and other choices include Gary/Chicago International Airport and Chicago Rockford International Airport. Several Chicago hotels have shuttle service, however it’s a good idea to investigate public transportation options in the event it is not offered by your hotel.

Descent hotel, lousy fitness center
The hotel was clean, pretty good breakfast options. The fitness center was dingy, dark and most of the treadmills did not work. Very poor. Otherwise the hotel itself is pretty good. [Less]

We were very pleased with our stay at this HIE. The room was very clean and comfortable. I was especially impressed with how quiet the room was (no noise from the hallway). There was a bit of the [More] roadway noise from the windows, but I only really noticed it when standing at the window and looking outside. Great stay! [Less]

Comfortable bed but stinky shower curtain
By mamabear
Pros.: Service is great. Beds are comfortable. Breakfast choices are great. My service dog was treated as a guest. Cons.: Guest Room is small. Staff and guests are allowed to smoke outside [More] the hotel front entrance. My room was at 6th floor, free Wi-Fi is very weak at 6th floor. Shower curtain at Guest room bathroom is very stinky. Water pressure is low. Window curtain cannot close, light from the street get into the room during sleep. Very noisy outside the room from both window (the street) and the hallway. [Less]
Stuck in O'Hare
By RussA
I ended up here after flight delays and re-booking forced an overnight in Chicago. It was during the playoffs and there weren't any rooms closer to the Airport. The night manager, Mike really took [More] care of me even though he didn't have any rooms left to book at the voucher rate and got me out the door on time to catch an early morning flight. It's the people that make the business click. Thanks Mike! [Less]
