A good experience, better than expected of a cheaper hotel compared to the usual Holiday Inns.
Spacious room, good soft bench, useful table / lights and plenty sockets. Comfortable bed with good
pillows. Not too small, clean bathroom with walk-in shower which I think is much better than showering in a bath which is the norm almost everywhere.
What could be better and would the enhance the hotel stay a lot, is the TV. As is now it is a laugh (or a miss), a first generation flat screen meaning a tiny screen. Also the reception is not too sharp. Only a few channels (about 9 or 10), these being only UK. I would have appreciated more choice like Discovery / music channel / Europe news / sports / French / German etc but none of that.
Also it must be said that although the hotel is conveniently situated next to the Watford Junction, the actual street it is on is badly lit and a bit backyard like, not very welcoming. There is noise from the road (I had a room at the front) but it was not too noisy.
The breakfast is good but a bit basic - no cheese or meats. I did not touch the hot food as it did not look good, plasticky scrambled eggs, uninviting big sausages and the awful beans in tomato sauce. Why would anyone eat that for breakfast? I did like the breads though and choice for muesli / cereals. In addition there are plenty empty tables so overall I would rate the breakfast as good enough but room for improvement!
The hotel staff was helpful and friendly. The heater in my room did not work and they put in a portable heater which worked well.
To conclude I would (and probably will) come again, a good hotel for a good price. [Less]
