Houston is the largest city in Texas and fourth largest city in the United States. Due to its sprawling layout and unconventional city planning, it's not considered a major tourist destination. However, guests of Houston hotels will find the city has plenty to offer - a revitalized downtown area with new light rail transportation, professional athletics clubs, a stellar performing arts scene and no shortage of family friendly activities.
Houston is one of five cities with resident companies in all of the major performing arts disciplines (opera, ballet, music and theater), and guests staying in our downtown Houston hotels will enjoy our proximity to the Houston Theatre District. A short walk or Metro ride away is the Houston Museum District. Here, you'll find the Houston Zoo, Contemporary Arts Museum, Holocaust Museum and famed Menil Collection. If you only have time for one museum during your Houston hotel stay, we recommend the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. This airy and modern complex boasts great Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and Renaissance pieces and an outdoor sculpture garden by famed Japanese-American artist Isamu Noguchi.
If you prefer major sports to masterpieces, head to Reliant Park, Houston's premier sports, entertainment and convention complex. Depending on the season, you can watch the Astros play on their home turf or catch your favorite band in concert.
Houston also offers a wide variety of attractions the whole family can enjoy, including the downtown Aquarium, Houston Zoo and Six Flags Splashdown. The Houston Space Center is collaboration between NASA and Disney's Imagineering team and well worth the 30-minute drive from the city center. Tour the world's best collection of spacesuits in Astronaut Gallery, experience life aboard a space station, or head to Blast Off Theatre to simulate a NASA rocket launch.
Who said Houston wasn't much of a tourist town? With all these great attractions and entertainment venues, the hardest part might be deciding where you want to be and which of our great Holiday Inn Express hotels in Houston to choose.

Great room and service
I went to Tomball for the 1st time for a conference. I took a one bedroom studio. This studio exceeded my expectation. I regretted buying the food out. Only if I knew my room was actually a little[More] house. The kitchen fit for 1 person but it is complete and with ustensils. Well I was very happy. It was a great room. I love everything about it and I thank the Joan Hunter's ministries for making that recommendation.[Less]
Overall nice. Would recommend it to anyone for both business and pleasure.[Less]
We spent 3 nights in Tomball, and we had 3 adukts and 3 puppies. Accommodating staff, and super clean areas for people and pups. Good location.[Less]
